EVERY CARD HAS A STORY
More than
a little artwork.
2001Shining Mew reached readers through the May 2001 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in Japan on April 15. Hironobu Yoshida's blue Mew curls through a field of stars, with its long tail looping around the illustration. The magazine distribution became part of the card's identity among collectors.
It carries the Japanese Darkness, and to Light... expansion symbol and a special Shining deck rule. Its surface is also distinctive: Cosmos foil and fine glitter produce a different response from the metallic Pokémon silhouettes of Neo Destiny. The sparkle can extend beyond the illustration into the printed front of the card.

About these prices and sources
These are researched public records, not a live feed or an appraisal of this particular copy. Published guide estimates and completed sales are shown separately. The latest located sale is the newest matching record in this notebook, not a claim that every marketplace has been searched. A sale's source may include a buyer's premium; shipping and tax depend on that source.
No single raw estimate is shown because condition and foil variants create a wide spread. The located historical examples are not claimed to be the latest sales. CGC Gem Mint and Pristine labels are distinct.
Prices for raw cards vary with condition. Grading companies and label tiers are kept separate; no price is calculated by applying a multiplier to another grade.
