EVERY CARD HAS A STORY

More than
a little artwork.

1997

Mew's Japanese Fossil card belongs to Mystery of the Fossils, the third Japanese expansion in the original card series. Released in 1997, it is a Psychic-type Basic Pokémon with a rarity star, the Fossil emblem and the old Japanese layout. Its number, 151, identifies the Pokémon rather than its place in the set.

Ken Sugimori's small pink Mew floats in a wide, luminous holo field. The restrained pose makes the background feel unusually spacious. Its attacks are equally distinctive: one grows stronger against a heavily powered opponent, while the other reverses an evolution. That combination gives this tiny 50 HP card plenty of character.

Little things to notice.

  1. 01

Psywave deals 10 damage for each Energy attached to the defending Pokémon.

  2. 02

Devolution Beam can target an evolved Pokémon on either player's side, returning its highest Evolution card to hand.

  3. 03

The printed Level 23 and 50 HP help identify this design alongside its Fossil emblem and No. 151.

About these prices and sources

These are researched public records, not a live feed or an appraisal of this particular copy. Published guide estimates and completed sales are shown separately. The latest located sale is the newest matching record in this notebook, not a claim that every marketplace has been searched. A sale's source may include a buyer's premium; shipping and tax depend on that source.

These references concern the Japanese Fossil holo, not an English promo or a glossy Japanese promotional print. No verified BGS estimate is included.

Prices for raw cards vary with condition. Grading companies and label tiers are kept separate; no price is calculated by applying a multiplier to another grade.
